The Odyssey discovered a planet made entirely of crystal, its surface glittering in the starlight. Captain Elena Vasquez stood on the bridge, her eyes on the viewscreen.

"Command, this is Vasquez. I've found a crystal planet."

"Copy, Odyssey. What's its composition?"

"Pure silica. But there's something else. A resonance."

Kaelen appeared beside her. "It's a First Ones' archive. The crystals store information."

"Can we access it?"

"Yes. But we need to interface with them."

The Builder connected to the crystal network. Images flooded the display-the history of the First Ones, their rise, their fall, their secrets.

"There's a warning," the Builder said.

"Of what?"

"A weapon. Hidden in the core of the galaxy. If activated, it could destroy everything."

"Where is it?"

The map showed a location near the galactic center.

"We need to find it."

The Odyssey launched, carrying the crystal's knowledge.

The universe was vast.

And full of secrets.

The end.

Tommy walked through the field behind his mother's cottage, the place where he'd played as a boy, where he'd dreamed of adventures he never imagined would come true. The grass was green, the sky blue, the world quiet in a way it hadn't been for six years.

He stopped at the old oak tree, sat beneath it, pulled out his journal. He hadn't written in months. The words didn't come the way they used to. But today, they came.

May 12, 1946. It's spring. The war has been over for a year. I've been home for seven months.

I thought coming back would be easier. I thought I'd leave the war behind, become the person I was before. But that person doesn't exist anymore. He died somewhere in Africa, or Italy, or Germany. I don't know which country stole him.

I have nightmares sometimes. The faces. The camps. The men I killed. Miller says it's normal, that all soldiers carry the same ghosts. He writes to me sometimes, from Manchester. He's working in a factory, hating it, missing the army. I understand.

Friedrich writes too. He's back in Hamburg, rebuilding his life. His sister is married now, has a child. He sent me a photograph of them. I keep it on my bedside table. A reminder that some things survived.

I don't know what I'll do now. The farm is too small for both of us, and Mum needs me here. Maybe I'll find work in the village. Maybe I'll travel. Maybe I'll just sit under this tree and let the world pass by.

But I'm alive. That's something. That's everything.

He closed the journal, leaned back against the oak. The sun was warm on his face. A bird sang somewhere in the branches.

Footsteps in the grass. His mother approached, a basket in her hands.

"Thomas. You'll miss your lunch."

He smiled. "Coming, Mum."

He stood, tucked the journal into his pocket, and walked toward the cottage. The field stretched behind him, green and peaceful. The oak tree stood where it had always stood, would stand long after he was gone.

He was home. The war was over. The living went on living.

And that, he decided, was enough.
